Lately I’ve been doing a lot of poetry. What I mean by a lot is more then one every four years, though I will say it’s nowhere near what would be considered “rampant artistic explosion” either. *LOL* It’s in waves of 3-4 pieces every other week or so, with a near complete one popping out somewhere in there.
A couple weeks ago I went out and bought this book called “Writing Poetry from the inside out” by Sanford Lyne. I figured that since the words were flying in my head like there were frequent flyer miles to be used up, I might as well get better focused. After reading the book I discovered that at least some of the things that the author suggested, I had already been doing on my own, and the new things I have decided to pick up and use. One being a fancy hardback blank book to write my work in, instead of the lined paper school book I had. (Which I have been “using” for 2 years and already I see my older work fading away in it.

Also lately when listening to either the radio or to my Cd’s I’ve not only enjoyed the songs (naturally!) but end up sitting there at times and in my head seeing how poetic the songs are and how beautiful they are without music behind them, which is a totally new experience for me.

Right, on to the “good stuff” … some poetry.

Voices

Two people walking down the street
In different directions, alone.
One in a fine suit
The other in disrepair clothes
Both are loudly talking
To voices not heard
Flailing arms in heated arguments
Which one is on a phone?
And are you sure?

Words can say so much
He says “I love you.”
She replies “What is love?”
They state “We hate you!”
We remark “You will lose!”
